JMT Architecture has programmed, planned and designed a 21,455 GSF replacement facility for the existing R.V. Truitt Controlled Environmental Laboratory building.

The new state-of-the-art laboratory building includes the following:

• Outdoor Flume
• Biology Labs
• Environmental Labs
• Microscopy Lab
• Flexible Lab
• Offices
• Meeting Rooms
• Collaboration Areas
• Central Seawater Pumping Facility

The design is compatible to the context of the historic character of Solomons. JMT Architecture paid special attention to selection of materials and construction methods to weather the harsh environmental conditions of the bayfront location. The project received LEED Silver certification.
